![]() ![]() If anyone has questions I'd be glad to help, but of course with the headset working I may be lost in some virtual world for a while. If it's something I missed, I'm assuming others may have as well. Ever since setup, I have received multiple error codes which I cannot solve and I literally. If that is a requirement, I haven't seen it detailed in any documentation or FAQ. Hi, So I very recently bought a HTC Vive with the bases and controllers. My Monitor is connected via display port and the Vive is connected to the HDMI slot in the card. Youll need this to be fullscreen for Steam VR to work correctly. I click to make it Direct Mode, then it says the Compositor is not full screen and I get a red color in the HMD. HTC makes no claims regarding any statements on external websites. Make sure its in view of the base stations. If your screen is on, but showing solid grey, the vives display is working properly, though it cant find a valid tracking position. The biggest is that it says my HMD isn't in Direct Mode. Unplug all the plugs from the linkbox, USB/HDMI/DC replug them again. I didn't get the error (because it became my primary) but of course performance was horrible. Setting up my Vive today and ran into some issues. As an aside I found it by trying the headset on the motherboard. Then made sure the card they were on was the primary. I put one of my monitors on DVI, and the headset on that same card. I have two GTX 970's and an HDMI on my motherboard. In the steamvr device display it shows that my headset and base stations are working and green. What finally worked for me, is to make sure the headset is on the same card as my primary monitor. It also tells me the compositor is not available and gives me a button to launch the compositor, but the button doesnt do anything. I found a few older discussions here and in the steam community that discussed it, and a variety of possible solutions, but nothing that fixed it and nothing newer. Despite the fact that Direct Mode is disabled, SteamVR will continue to run in Extended mode. When you restart SteamVR, it will be configured as before. To enable direct mode, choose the icon that says Enable Direct Mode. The error had a link saying "Launch Compositor" but clicking it seemed to do nothing. Verify that you are in Direct Mode by going to Settings > Developer > Direct Mode and clicking on it. Typically, when we test some of our projects, we will run them in Windowed mode, as anything that is running fullscreen seems to have issues with the compositor. When I first hooked up my Vive I kept getting the error "Compositor not available (400)" when trying to start SteamVR. The compositor will need to be full screen, but the game does not. ![]()
